The RM Vette thing needs to go away. Stop bastardizing the Corvette name!

Who's bastardizing anything? The original 'Vette was intended to be mid-engined until GM put the clamp on it; financially speaking.

Calling it the Corvette Zora (like proposed) will do no such thing.

If you know your Corvette history, Zora Arkus-Duntov, the man who took the Corvette from being the pretty turd to the world fighter we all know, was a strong proponent to making an RM Corvette. Living out his idea and vision would be a fitting tribute.

If GM really wants to tempt us call it the Pontiac Banshee and then show it in Back to the Future IV and then shelve it

If the new vette base is the stingray, let's call it the mako shark after the 60's Corvette concept.

I like your idea. why does it need to be a Vette at all? Ford has the GT and GM has a lot of history of SS being a high performance badge. Why not just call it the SS and be done. Might need something different for Germany though.

I have always suspected that Chevrolet knows that the second they produce a mid engined Vette, it will be the best generation of Corvette ever built, but also, sadly, it will be the last generation of Corvette ever built. The same would happen to the 9/11 if Porche moved the engine forward of the rear axle.

Yeah, but only about 12 people know that and they are all on Oppo.

No it wasn't. Not even close. The original Corvette was an experiment to see if a plastic car could be built and the idea was to make it a rich-people's roadster to be coveted by the such groups as the Hollywood elite. Unfortunately the manufacturing quality troubles, a single transmission option, and a lackluster engine put a stop to that.

Corvette didn't really start becoming a true sports car until after Zora came along. Zora was not involved in the Corvette's conception and his input would not really be felt until 1955. MR wasn't even being considered specifically for Corvette until the dawn of the C3 era.
